Changing jobs, the iLab experience

March 13th, 2008

As has already been published I will be joining a new Avusa Media division called the iLab on April 1st as their Lead Developer. This means that I will be leaving Opteq where I have felt very much at home for the last couple of years.

The iLab is Avusa Media’s new commercial applications division where we will be creating on-line, off-line and mobile applications. I will be working with Colin Daniels (Publisher: Times on-line), Justin Hartman (Digital Innovation Manager), Gregor Rohrig (New Media Specialist) and a graphic designer who remains nameless. Its already a formidable team and I am sure that great things await.

This of course means me bidding farewell to my current employer Opteq, which is sad for me for many reasons. So A big thank you is owed to everyone at Opteq who has made my journey an unforgettable one and the knowledge I gained there has laid a great foundation for future developments. To all my friends at Opteq, thanks for the great memories and I am sure that this isn’t goodbye. I wish you guys all the success and happiness in the world.

Stay tuned, exciting times lay ahead!

Babys Room is now complete

March 10th, 2008

When I thought of how a baby’s room gets decorated I thought it would be a simple task of putting in a cot, a changing table and few decorations. Was I mistaken or what. The room has had a complete over hall from Judiets study into what is now a beautiful baby’s room. We had to put up floating shelves, floating boxes, change this, hang this, move this and repack everything - twice. All of which at the time seemed like a massive pain the ass but when it was completed I was, and still am, glad we made the effort. The room looks fit for a princess. Here are a few pictures, more are in the gallery.

Note that the photos look crap because my camera was affirmatively shopped and these where taken on a cellphone camera.

Baby is doing well!

February 17th, 2008

Current Mood:Ecstatic emoticon Ecstatic

So we had the 30week checkup today and im very glad to report that all is going well. She, as we could have expected, acted like a princess and refused to show herself to us - so no 3D scan again. I suppose its best that we have one surprise when she is born!

Mom is doing well as well apart from being tired and constantly uncomfortable - but all looks set for her big arrival on the 24th of April or a couple weeks around that. Below are some pics that I managed to take out of the videos he took and after the page jump there are plenty more videos and photos.

Here is a photo of her head:

Here is a video of her Yawning:

February 6th, 2008

Current Mood:Ecstatic emoticon Ecstatic

I present to you; the amazing, the incredible Koelerbox. He is going to be the saviour of South Afrikaans Rap (See what i did there - haha). Or probably not - but either way he is hilarious and I almost fell off my chair laughing. Side note, you will need to understand Afrikaans to really appreciate this wonder of music.

Read more to view his other video. Probably PG13.

LolCats

Its another one of those viral subjects that is doing the rounds on the internet now days and there are a few sites that one can visit should you be interested in LOLCats. Occasionally they come up with a gem of a tag line and pictured above is one such picture.

Here is a brief description from Wikipedia

Lolcat is a term used to describe an image combining a photograph of an animal, most frequently a cat, with a subjectively humorous and idiosyncratic caption in broken English referred to as Kitty Pidgin, Kitteh, or lolspeak.
